Software-engineering fundamentals: algorithms and data structures, system and software design diagrams, building HTTP APIs, and interview preparation.
Algorithms and data structures in Python: sorting, searching, graphs, techniques such as dynamic programming, and game-search algorithms.
The STAR method is a structured workflow used to clearly explain professional experience by breaking an answer into four logical parts: Situation , Task…

The engineering section collects the general software-engineering material that sits underneath the AI, data and platform pages elsewhere on the site. It is organised into four areas. Algorithms covers data structures, sorting, searching, graph algorithms, problem-solving techniques such as dynamic programming and two pointers, and game-search algorithms, all with Python implementations and complexity tables. Design covers software and system design diagrams, including UML class, sequence and component views and Python design patterns. APIs covers how to build and consume HTTP services: REST principles, FastAPI and Flask, GraphQL, and enterprise integration examples. Interview gathers the STAR method and an index of common interview questions that link back to the relevant pages.
The areas build on each other. Choosing a data structure determines the complexity of an API endpoint; a design diagram documents how services and modules call each other; and an interview answer is usually a compressed explanation of exactly those decisions. Reading across sections is more useful than reading any one in isolation.
| Goal | Start with | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Prepare for coding interviews | Algorithms: data structures and techniques | Interview question index |
| Build a backend service | APIs: implementing an API, FastAPI | Design: sequence and component diagrams |
| Document an existing system | Design: UML and system diagrams | APIs: endpoint contracts |
| Prepare for behavioural interviews | Interview: STAR method | Projects pages for concrete stories |
For fundamentals, read arrays, stacks, queues and hash tables, then sorting and searching, then graphs (BFS, DFS, shortest paths), then techniques. For service building, start with the API implementation guide, compare FastAPI and Flask, then look at GraphQL for flexible client queries. Keep the interview index open as a checklist: each entry points back to a page where the concept is explained with code.
